Your stress-free 10 step moving home checklist

Moving houses is full of hassles. Especially when you are moving cross-country. It is extremely stressful to make sure you have packed right. But this chaos can be handled and is not as difficult as it might first seem. Here are a few tips to move stress and trouble free.

1.      Start packing before a week at the least: If you are planning to move anytime, it is always a sane idea to start packing or the process of packing a week ahead of the D-Day. You will find it highly beneficial.

2.      Organize your stuff: Any planning process requires organizing. Organize your stuff by making a list down, of the things you own and things you are going to scrap, and the number of each of them. It is essential that your list is clean for it will come as a help at every step of your packing and moving. Along the way, keep attaching all the receipts and bills to your organized inventory list as well.

3.      Segregate everything: Once you have made a list, segregate all items as packable, not packable or fragile, not fragile or heavy items, light items, etc. Doing this will ensure that you do not break your stuff by cramming everything irrespective of their characteristics, into a single carton.

4.      Throw the crap away: Get rid of all the garbage and do not increase the weight of stuff you will have to carry to the new home. Especially if you are moving from an individual house to a tiny apartment, ensure that you are not taking unnecessary furniture, toys, books, clothes, etc. You could sell them for cheaper rates at second hand stores, before moving.

5.      Label things: Once done segregation, label all the items based on the segregation you have made on the list. Label the cartons as well, based on their sizes and the kind of stuff you would be putting into them.

6.      Disassemble all the heavy furniture and track all the components down: While disassembling the heavy furniture you own, keep in mind that your tools do not get misplaced in the chaos of your house.

7.      Use the right method of packing: Pack all the fragile stuff like, TVs, Mirrors, etc. in bubble wraps. Do not pack boxes to the brim, leave some empty space to ensure it will not tear off in the middle of its journey.

8.      Do some serious research on the locality or country you are moving to: Never go to a place without doing the research. Do it before packing or do it simultaneously. Understand the laws of the new place, understand the hassles that might happen in the locality you are moving to and look for the nearest hospitals, police stations, and every place necessary for you, beforehand.

9.      Call the movers and packers: It’s important that you seek help when you are doing as tedious a job as moving residences. There are many movers and packers in and around every town today for services. For e.g. Office Removals in Luton.

10.  Get good sleep and relax: No matter how much we try to deny it, it has been scientifically proven that packing and moving is tedious. It is thus important that you take necessary steps to not stress out and relax. Getting adequate sleep is important especially in times like these.

Moving houses can be tough, but it can be made a little chaos free if you follow the steps above. It is also important to know that there are always people ready to help you and asking for help will not cause any shame to you or your family.
